The need to change the format happens When the work grows to a new point. Any evolving art style needs room to grow. The career of George Herriman after a fall from a scaffold made it challenging to work as a house painter. Leading to the first comic strip, Lariat Pete appeared in 1903 in the San Francisco Chronicle.
